fun facts
- I've been making personal websites since the late 90s when my dad bought me a book on how to build your own website. It came with a CD-ROM with software for making webpages without any knowledge of HTML that worked kind of like Word. I learned HTML and CSS by viewing the sources of websites I liked and copying and repurposing code. My first website was on Geocities (rip), so it feels appropriate that my new website is on Neocities.
- I came up with the name "Sea of Wishes" in 2007 or 2008 when I was trying to think of a combination of words that I liked to use as a domain name. At the time the phrase 'sea of wishes" didn't come up with any results on Google, and it just stuck. I like to think of the sea of wishes as a metaphorical part of my brain from which my creative ideas spring to life.
- I have a B.F.A. in fashion design but never did anything professional with my degree beyond an unpaid internship. When I was young I had big dreams of being a famous fashion designer with my own brand, but as an adult I find more fulfillment in making clothing and costumes for myself as a hobby.
- Some of my costumes have won major awards at small to mid-sized conventions on the east coast. I'm not confident enough to compete at larger conventions in the area and the only time I've won a best in show was for a tiny local con in its first year, but I'd like to go back to competing when I have the time, motivation, and money for it.
